Røros, idyllic town

Röros in Norway is an idyllic little town with a former copper mine, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its unique environment. The mine was closed in 1977 and had then been operational for 333 years. The city's highlights are the wooden church from 1784 and the approx. 2000 wooden houses with a maximum of two floors. Either in cheerful colors or with dark brown tarred facades. Most Swedes have seen Röros in the TV series about Pippi. All outdoor scenes, and there are many, in the two episodes Pippi in the first snow and Pippi's Christmas are recorded in the city. The other thing the town is known for is its Christmas market and its annual market every year in February.
